I used to own a Chevy Trailblazer, purchased after selling my Civic in an attempt to make my ex-fiance's tuition payments. Needless to say, we obviously aren't still together and I had a bad taste in my mouth every time I got into the truck. After relocating to New Jersey to live with my parents and get back on my feet, I had to get the vehicle resgitered and titled here in Jersey. I had also known of a festering issue with the trans after having it replaced not too long ago. I got the vehicle legal, went to the auto parts store and purchased the parts needed to do an oil change and trans flush the next day while at work (I work at a honda dealership in the service department.) While on my way home I noticed a slip in the trans and checked my rear view mirror as I pulled over to make sure I was not obstructing traffic. In my mirror was a massive cloud of smoke which, when I pulled over, started to plume from under the hood...the pictures tell the rest of that story. When my mom finally picked me up from the scene, she offered me a choice. Either I wait til insurance pays out and buy a used car with the money, or I take a one time deal on a new ford something-or-other with my grandfather's ford retiree benefits. We headed to the dealership shortly after. Considering my budget, I narrowed the choices to a certified 2013 Fusion with the gutless four-banger or a brand spanking new 2015 Fiesta with the punchy 1.6...you can see this day was fraught with challenges and decisions. Ended up paying the right price for the right car that fit my needs, and while I certainly could have gotten a used car that I really wanted, *coughcoughSVTContourcough* I was rather biased about driving someone else's turd as a daily.
