does anyone know what to do about the speed sensor from a 97 tbird to a newer 4r70w? the gear on the sensor is turned by the gear on the output shaft but the newer tranny, although it has a spot for a speed sensor, does not use one so therefore has no gears on the output shaft to turn the gear on the speed sensor. Any solution to this problem or just swap the output shafts?

Well,for some of us..."just" swapping the output shaft isn't a big deal.

thanks to everyone! this engine/tranny swap would not be possible without everyone's help. hopefully by tuesday i will be able to take it to a transmission shop and have the output shafts swapped over.

Man, if JL is willing to help you out with it then take him up on it. You won't find anyone better around you to help.

C'mon it's not that bad, take all of the parts out and put the new shaft in, then put all the parts back in....

definitely skip the transmission shop and take it to JL....he'll run circles around any tranny shop in the blink of an eye, and you'll have a 4R70W that can withstand a direct nuclear blast (well almost) LOL
