Hello

well I made it to the track.
New Tires
New Engine

During the feature I lost my Right Rear tire.
BIG Spin out!!

The guts got ripped out of my Steel wheel. Broke 2 lug studs also.(after market + 1in nuts)
Found the tire on back straight away. I was sitting in turn 1.

The car don't go forward with-out a RR tire.

Wow! Glad you're ok.

You're not trying hard enough if you don't break something.
OR
It's always the part you didn't replace that breaks.

Nothing to it!

Hello

Well i didn't hit anything. I ended up in the center of turn 1.

The car were going by on both sides! Tried to go forward, Nothing!
She did go backward slowly, But thought better of it.

They towed me off down the front straightaway. I waved to the crowd, They Started to cheer!!

Lost 2 lug studs & bent another.

What track do you go to in western NY? the tessier-racing link doesn't take me to any website BTW.

do you know anywhere in western NY that would do a jmod on my tranny? i asked a few places near me and they just offer standard shift kits which are quite expensive. Their tranny coolers are pretty expensive too.

We used to race there. It was a few years ago. We ran our latemodel up there. We also had a truck but i cant remember if they had a truck class up there so i dont know if we ever ran that there. But out weekly track was in Lake Erie Speedway in North East, Pa

Mishap 2

Hello

Cracked 2 more wheels last night + this.

We had a 50 lap race, Survived But lost 2 laps. Trany (AOD) shifter broke, Couldn't get it out of 1 gear. I race in 2nd.

The car had a push going into the corner + a bumpy track.
Will have to look over the car better now that it day light.

Looks like New control arms for next season.

For the first mishap, it's kind of chicken-and-egg in terms of whether the stud(s) gave or the hub gave. Two possible scenarios come to mind from what data I gather in this thread:

1. The RR wheel had made previous contact with the wall and, while remaining intact, suffered stress damage and/or hairline fractures.
2. One or more lug nuts may have been loose when you hit the track. This creates stress on the lugs and when one gives way, the dominoes fall.

The second points to previous stress damage.

I had a similar problem with a street stock one night. I was running second when I felt a nasty vibration entering turn three followed by what felt like a tractor beam pulling me into the wall for a clip-destroying impact. The post-mortem was that the (stock) RF wheel had sheared off at the hub and went its own way. The lugs and hub were all intact. That wheel had taken an impact a week before, however, I didn't think to inspect or change it. Upgrading to aftermarket whitespoke and later racing rims along with more vigilant maintenance ended those problems. I never had that type of problem over the next eight years of racing.

What do your rules allow in terms of wheels/studs? I see you already upgraded the studs and nuts.

Hello jon

How would you loosing up my car. She had a push in.
Lower RF & raise RR spring or remove rear sway bar??

Paul
Six weeks later. Talk about a delayed reaction...my apologies.

Removing the rear sway bar will tighten the car and make the push worse.

There can be a lot of reasons for a push. More than I can think of in one post.

Here is an article that goes into pretty fair detail about the process. About half way down begins describing various scenarios and what to look at. One of these may apply to you.

Tire temperatures can tell a lot also...there are books written that describe this more compactly than I can. Here's a basic article:

There is more to tire temperatures than this...but this will get you started.
