Went to the track a couple weeks ago

1/4- 14.158
60'- 2.096
mph- 96.48

This was from my best run of the day, had another run with very similar numbers and two earlier runs with traction issues when I tried to load the torque converter just slightly. Both of those runs netted roughly 14.9. I am thinking with drag tires and being able to launch at more than idle would get me into the high 13s if not very very low 14s. I am PI swapped, accufab tb and plenum, 03 gt intake tube and MAF, kooks headers, catless mandrel exhaust system and magnapack mufflers, 3000 stall modified marauder tq converter with j modded trans, aluminum ds, 3.73 trac loc. Car has also been tuned.

Street tires are just that good, for the street. Get some Mickey Thompson drag radials and you'll be fine with traction. Good job otherwise!!

Thanks keith, with all the changes coming up on my drivetrain i will be getting new rims and tires shortly. Probably get an extra set of rims just for drag tires. Speaking of drivetrain changes jim and i should be up this week to get the shortblock

your times are exactly what mine were before I added gearing, slicks and longtubes.
I did not gain any mph, but my e.t. wetn from 14.15 to 13.85 just making those changes.

If you could shave a few pounds, you could easily get that 13 second timeslip.

More converter will help the 60 foot however those units I do not suggest loading them. I ran one in my car and found it did best flashing it for all it was worth. Hold it just above idle and them stomp the throttle for all it is worth to get the flash and multiplication from it. At the shootout this year my helper ran one in his car and it was .4 better doing it that way.

+1 on both.

Last fall @ Byron (first time on the track with my bird) I held up against the convertor for the first run, and blazed the street tires halfway down the track like an eediot. Second run I skipped the unnecessary burnout, flashed it.....and shaved 2 seconds off my et. lol

I actually felt pretty good about my experience there.....because I learned how NOT to race my car.
