We all know it's a lot cheaper to get a Mustang into the 10's than an MN12..

A few of our Tccoa Members would rather be different, and stand apart from the crowd..By making a fast MN12!..

I commend you guys!

How much did it cost you to get your MN12 in the 10's,11's,12's?

Feel free to comment or vote on the poll..

I'll keep this Poll private..

This should give our aspiring n00bs something to think about..Before they start dumping their $$$$$$ into their MN12..

Expecting 10's,11's, even 12's on a Pauper's budget..

Couple thousand to run 12s on the motor then spend around $500 to run 11s on a bottle.

Less than $4700 to run 11's (Power Adder), Less than $4000 to run 12's (Motor NA).

Its a loaded question to begin with because there is a massive difference between running a 12.99 versus running a 10.01. There is an equally impressive difference in the money spent as well.
That's what I was thinking. Way to many variables for any given answer to be helpful to anyone....

Hence my earlier reply.

I agree with you but the point is I suppose that you can get there at different levels with different amount of funds. Maybe he's looking at costs of those here and times they have run.

You are not going to run 10's likely with 5K maybe (Possible) but you can run 11's and can certainly run in the 12's without a power adder for that. But you're not going to do it for $47.95 LOL!!!!!

We're just talking mods of course not the price of the car though now with them as cheap as they are it might be possible.

He was actually asking in the initial post what it did cost to get your car in the 10's, 11's, 12's!!!

The point of this thread was to show any n00bs what sort of costs their looking at..If they decide they want to start building a 10, 11, or even 12 second MN12..

Naturally for a 10 second car it's going to cost more to build than say a 12.99 car..

Lets focus on Engine/Drivetrain costs..Not just $$$$ spent on random things for your MN12..

With enough posts..I'm sure we can break down what it would cost to build a 10, 11, or even 12 second MN12..

The poll is optional..

If you would rather not tell anyone how much $$$$ you have into your MN12 for Engine/Drivetrain Mods to get you into the 10, 11, or 12s..
That's fine too..

Also if you own a fast Mustang past or present...You can show us what the Engine/Drivetrain Mods costs were to get you into the 10, 11, or 12s as well..

:)

Well I can do some figuring but actual cost will be alot lower as I usually become a dealer to buy things and I do all the labour myself ill figure retail to get into the 10s when I get a chance minus labour, as Steve has said there is different methods and cheaper ways to go 10, 11, or 12s depending on the power adder type or the type of build like Gmaestro

In my opinion the real question here is is it worth it, that depends on how much you love your bird. I've heard of car's running 10's with far less than money than it takes to make a mn12 run 10's. Everyone else is running a Mustang, camaro, gto, or neon srt4, you see those and it's expected for the driver to nail it and be gone! Does anyone ever see it coming from a mn12? I've seen a few birds that were moded and not club guy's, it's just not often. I hope you find the answers you were looking for, cause it really comes down to your opinion in the end.

By the time it's all said and done I'll have at least $5k in the drivetrain, and probably another good $1k on exhaust, tuning, etc... I won't add up the receipts for my own sake. :) I think that it's likely that the car will have the potential to run 12s with the right tire/track/tuning combination, but I don't think I'll ever get serious about making passes to determine that.

Good heads with cams will run $2000 at a minimum, then if you don't touch anything else you NEED high stall and more gear. Figure $1500 minimum for a good converter with gears. Add another $1000-$1500 for a built trans so you don't blow up the stock one after a few passes. Not to mention all the other stuff - exhaust, tune, bolt-ons, etc.

Since I never set out to build a track car - my goal is a fun sunny day street machine - every cent is worth it since I know it'll put a grin on my face every time I hit the skinny pedal. :D

There's not really a certain answer I'm looking for..I just thought I would create this thread as a reference for the n00bs..

It's true it takes less money to make some other cars fast..Like you said though..No one really expects to see a really fast MN12..

You got to really love these cars to want to invest the kind of $$$$ it takes to get them in the 10's, 11's or even 12's in some cases..

If you have to ask you can't afford it.

Take a look at this similar thread.

Thanks for the link..I agree "If you have to ask you can't afford it"..

Just so you know...I'm not interested in drag racing my MN12.. ;)

I didn't know if you were under the impression that I created this thread for my own benefit..

But...It's for the n00bs..And hopefully this thread alleviates some of the questions that get asked over and over again..

With all the money I've dumped in my project, if I could go back I would have stuck with my SVO and stock NPI and took a vacation to Europe.

My crapbox in its present state, 10k.
Its bullet proof.
I hope that was a joke, cause everything breaks. :D

actually newbs never ask how much things are because they think they can do it all for $47.88 :) They always just ask what parts to use because they don't know.
I know you're not finished with your build yet, but what do you have into your Engine/Drivetrain so far?

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt, and say after your finished you'll run a high 11 NA.. :D
