What color is the illumination on this cluster? Blue-Green like the Taurus or Green like the T-Bird/Cougar?

Thanks,

Dennis

This is an unmolested Taurus cluster. So assume Blue-Green. I know that Scott made a nice set of gauge faces for JasonLMarsh, Might want to get a hold of him.

I got Scott's gauge faces and Scott makes a LED ribbon that really lights your cluster in bright white!

I also replaced the stock bulbs with LEDs in the entire cluster, the environmental controls, and the dome light.

Now, I turn on running lights to see cluster in bright daylight, and at night the dome really lights up the car.

JasonLMarsh sold me his set and I had a few complaints about it - the biggest being the fact that the indicator lamps under the tach and speedo were impossible to see during the day. I had him make me up a new set with a different material that, while is a bit less defined in daylight, looks much better at night and I can actually see the warning indicators during the day now. To get around the "less defined at day" issue I rigged a circuit so the cluster illumination would come on with the ignition so I wouldn't have to turn on the running lights all the time.

Brandon,

I had Scott remove material over the idiot lights, and the LEDs I installed corrected that problem. But, I'd be interested in your cluster illumination alteration.

I'm still using the stock incandescent bulbs in all of the indicators except for the green ones (turn signals, cruise control, O/D off, and the hi-beams because he boo-boo'd that one) because the green was a bit too yellow and using LEDs helped add some blue to "smooth" out the green.

The difference with this version is that I had him use a white vinyl instead of paper to give the numbers their white faces. It's a bit more gray in daylight and is a tad hard to see, but in my case the benefits outweighed the drawbacks and I compensated by adding that extra circuit.
