Ed, they'll fit. That's what I run on the back of my XR7, which is lowered 1". It isn't a common size though, so you're limited to Nittos or Falkens. But if they are 275/50/17, they will be almost 28" diameter ... stock diameter is 26.6". Pretty sure that is going to rub, especially if the car is lowered at all.
That's lowered an inch, really? I remember now that you had those big-azz tires on your Cougar, looks good. But I thought it was stock ride height, or maybe even raised a bit. Guess it's an illusion with the tall tires. Thanks for the correction in any case!Ed, they'll fit. That's what I run on the back of my XR7, which is lowered 1". It can be a bit tough to get a tall enough tire in 17" to suit an MN-12. 245/50R17 is a very close match to the diameter of the original tires. Going with 9" wheels limits the choices a bit too. If you want staggered sizes front and rear, maybe 255/45R17 and 285/40R17, which will be about 1/2" shorter than originals.
