What will this do for my 3.8 engine? Is it easy to remove the factory and install the new one? Do I get any performance gain from installing it?

Leave the stock one in there unless you're going to install a chip anytime soon. Won't get anything out of it and not difficult to install.

Yep, wait for a chip.
-180* thermostat
-motorcraft 32C plugs (1 step colder than stock)
Let them know you will have those installed when you order the chip, it allows more aggressive timing which = more horse power

the 180* thermostat and colder plugs will allow you to advance the timing more without pinging which = MORE power. Willow, you have a distributor on you car so you wouldn't need a chip, you can advance your timing by adjusting your distributor if you have a timing light.

ALSO the 32C plugs you can get at a local ford dealer. 32C are the last 3 numbers but they SHOULD know what you are talking about.
