Hey guys which stat did you use for your pi swaps? I'm still gathering parts and that's one I still need.

I first used a 180* thermostat but Iwent back to stock .
I really did not like that the fan was not in tune with the t-stat .

If you have a 180 degree thermostat you want to get the low and high speed fan turn on temps changed or you will have a wide variation of temps.

I used the stock 197 until I got a tune and went with the 180. With the temps in the 110s it still runs at 212 but when it isn't quite so hot it will run closer to 180. When I tried the lower temp thermostat prior to the tune there was always wierdness watching my temp gauge go up quickly then drop, I was always worried.

I relocated the gage sensor back to the heater hose line .

It look to be accurate but with the 180* t-stat it took longer for the car to cool down .

Now with the stock t-stat it cools back down faster .

In traffic it peaks at about 3/4 then comes back down to 1/2 .

I fully plan on getting a tune right after the swap... like I've said its a slow process of getting parts and cash. I was really curious what vehicle had a 180 stat that I could go up to the parts guy and ask for. Thanks all!

i put a 180 stat in my last car and yes the temp would be normal most of the time but it would jump up randomly but by the time you realized it the temp would be going down...

as far as going to the part guy just tell him what car you have and instead of the 195 ask for a 180...its in the computer as an option i believe...
