Are there any advantages to changing over to a 180 T-Stat without a chip?
If so which Robert Shaw should I get gen1 or gen2 and what PN?

Your car MAY run a wee bit cooler, but other then that, i don't think it makes much of a difference untill you get a chip. But its only 5 bucks, so why not?
I didn't know there where different generations of robertshaw tstats, but the one i got had p/n 330-180.
