I replaced the oil filter adapter gasket recently, and in my travels found a wire, 1 of the three that go to the radiator fan, completely free/detached/cut/I dunno.
The 'free' wire goes from the plug at the fan to almost to where the harness cuts into the fender/airbox intake area. There is no 'other end' of this wire that I can find inside the loom.
Is this normal?
Did Ford only use 'HI" on a Lincoln Mark viii base?
I don't want to start digging into the harness and wiring under the bumper and air-box unless I have to.
Thanks!

It’s because the connector is shared with the Tbird/Cougar fan. Mark VIII fans only use the one wire because it is variable speed, rather than coil tapped for two fixed speeds. There are a surprising amount of wires to nowhere in these, simply there to seal the connectors
