My driver side door has developed rust at the junction of where the upper part of the B pillar trim meet the upper window channel trim. How can I remove the window channel trim to get at the rust to remove it?
1. Unsnap courtesy light lens by prying out at slot in bottom and remove single phillips-head screw from upper front corner of courtesy light frame.
2. Pry outward to release retaining clips along front, top, and bottom edges of door release handle trim, then slide trim forward to remove.
3. Remove five (5) phillips screws securing power window and lock switch connectors to rear of panel and pry connectors off.
4. Pry connector off rear of power mirror switch and remove panel. Remove single phillips-head screw from bracket in front of door release handle.
Lift door panel upward, off of window channel and off of door. Disconnect courtesy light connector behind door panel and remove panel.
On to the diagram..
I have the diagram numbered in order..So it's easier to see which piece gets removed first..
The arrows indicate which direction the piece get pulled to remove it..
Once you have the door panel removed..Then remove the bolt holding the Door Belt Weatherstrip on..You can find this bolt on the back of the B-Pillar section of the door..
After you've removed the bolt holding the Door Belt Weatherstrip on..Gently lift straight up on it..This piece is labeled (1) in the diagram..
Lets move on to the piece labeled (2) in the diagram..This piece is called the Window Belt Moulding..
To remove this piece gently pry straight up as indicated by the arrows in the diagram..It should come off very easily..
Finally we get to the Window Channel..Labeled (3) in the diagram..
Start by removing the bolt holding it in place near the speaker opening of the door..You can see where the bolt is located on the diagram..
After you've removed the bolt..Gently pry the channel inward a couple inches..Not too much though you don't want to distort the shape of the channel..
Then work your way to the top of the channel, and push downward..Moving the piece just a couple inches outward..
Keep doing this until you get to the side closest to the mirror..Then push in a little bit indicated by the direction of the arrow in the diagram..
At this point the Window Channel should pull straight UP..Take care pulling it out of the door frame so you don't scratch your window up..
Just reverse the steps to install a new Window Channel..
Just a quick experience with headlight restoration.
