One thing is that this low mileage is running about 30-40k elsewhere

Elsewhere...as in different car of the same year range and mileage, or same car on other auction sites?

Under the TCCOA/SCCOA umbrella at least. Those higher 30/40k prices are probably the reason those ads have been up for a long time. Excited to see where BAT ends up. This made my google news feed, but I wouldnt call that mainstream

Maybe if it were a SVT Cobra, but being what it is it’s got very limited appeal, it’s only good for being a museum piece, and it’s just not that desirable of a car, even among MN12 Cougars, which a rational argument could be made for the 89-90 Supercharged XR7s, but a mid trim 97 when the Cougar and MN12 platform as a whole was cheapened out with a love it or hate it restyle? If you buy it to drive it sucks since every mile dings the value and every piece or rubber probably is rotten.

I mean I like these cars way more than the average collector, but even if I had the wealth there’s no way I’d ever pay $40,000 for one.

That same 35th Supercoupe has been for sale for FIFTEEN years, it pops up from time to time, nobody has paid the growing price the dealers who seem to keep passing it around think it’s worth

Dont get me started on some of these national classic car dealers. Watch them buy this up and put it on that market the club can't touch but does deserve

IDK besides the V8 it is a very stripped down model. If it had some premium RPO codes and the sport pack it would be a lot more desirable for collecting.

That's what I thought too. Manual climate, standard cassette, no autolamp, and it's a 1997 which in itself was already a stripper model.

Still a nice time capsule.

It would be a beautiful daily driver to me. Not a collectible.

I'm too fond of my automatic climate control and 3.27 limited slip to daily drive a base 1997. :ROFLMAO:

That used to be a must-have feature for me. But you get used to the manual type. I mostly drive with the windows down anyway.

Every time I drive one of our Jettas, I am constantly adjusting the manual knobs. Drives me nuts. I much prefer the "set it and forget it" method.

Agreed. I really miss the auto climate control from my old '95. One of the best ones made. Most older cars are like you're in a wind tunnel on auto.

I am always fiddling with the manual, especially in cold weather. Impossible to find the sweet spot, especially if the sun keeps going in and out.

I would rock that car for $7900. What else does $7900 buy you these days?

$8,500

I like auto climate control for the outside temperature readout, but functionally I like the rock solid dependability of the manual control, the blend door motor never fails, the head never fails, and while the blower resister can fail it’s easy to diagnose and replace, and unlike a failed auto PWM it will still blow air through the vents in the mean time.

Plus the design and placement of the 3 knob in 94-97s is very intuitive, you never need to take your eyes off the road fiddling with any one of the knobs, I hate that even basic modern car climate controls are identical button or worst yet touchscreen hell

Me too! If it was for sale near by, I would have impulse bought it already at that price. Wife would not be thrilled 😂

I'll go with a guess of 9900 for the sale price. If it was a loaded up sunroof sport model maybe 15,000.

Oh always. I have the weather guards, so even in rain theres airflow. I'm sure thats heck for my interior. Love the size of the windows though. I dont really envy the newer camaro gens for such a reason

On the subject of driving with the windows down, plus our previous conversation about Ford benchmarking the BMW 6-Series during development, I think it's a real shame we cannot roll down our rear side windows. Though admittedly, the BMW only allowed for them to go down about a third of the travel:

Still better than nothing.
