Or more. I mean sticker price on these was what? Less than $20k?seller probably set the reserve the same as the sticker price.
You can't buy anything new from Ford for that price these days. Not even a base Maverick.I have a pic of a sticker for a 97 Sport. The standard vehicle price is $17,815, but with options it's $21,645. It's pretty loaded.
Inflation adjusted that’s about $34k to $41k todayYou can't buy anything new from Ford for that price these days. Not even a base Maverick.
Don't know if you can buy as good of a car for even that price today.Inflation adjusted that’s about $34k to $41k today
I remember when a base Maverick went for $1999! Now I'm dating myself.......carry on!You can't buy anything new from Ford for that price these days. Not even a base Maverick.
I'd be more curious to know what it translated to in 2019 Dollars. Before that whole covid thing.Inflation adjusted that’s about $34k to $41k today
I know this is probably heresy but it’s not only the false sense of security with safety systems, but I think we’ve hit a point regular cars might just have too much power. In 20 years roads have gotten worse, traffic has gotten worse yet horsepower has nearly doubled in some cases(yet the vehicles aren’t any more fun to drive). There were always aggressive drivers but it really sticks out now when they’re all driving 250-300 horsepower crossovers.Inflation is a big part of it, and the other part is the car market. Probably people slowly realizing that newer cars have more points of failure, bundled with higher prices for new cars. Also to rant, those traditional bogus 'raises' that are for cost of living seem to fall short of that goal itself. I see a lot of scraped up cars nowadays in my area, new or old. Looks like merging accidents. How this is, I wonder. Either, we can't afford body work - or we can't afford to just "oopsie time for a new car" - or people are being too careless and agressive on the freeways. You got to wonder if all these safety features are giving drivers a false sense of security. Don't get me wrong, safety features are what keep me away from any gorgeous car before the mid 90s.
This is just my own selfish emotion, but it really bums me out that these types of cars will never be new again. It might sound like an echo of the past, like people lamenting the loss of the gorgeous 60s era. But it seems awfully different to me. The bird I have is in somewhat decent shape, but it is very used. I wish I could grab a fresh one and take care of one as a first owner and not rely on the boneyard at all. I've been thinking about starting a thread discussing the closest things we can get to this era and platform.
Yes I seen it on there!
