The holiday season is over and trying to find time to address a couple of the continuing issues with the car.
The tensioner issue had reared its ugly head once again after we thought it was corrected. It wasn't. Still occasionally fighting chain slap and not holding timing properly at the last event and causing some idle issues as well. After checking further on the runs and also checking some data logs from Chris, the converter is only reaching 4300 at most on the stall so Justin and I yanked everything out of the car last weekend.
Sent the converter back to PI to have it restalled to attempt to get it where I want it to launch. In the meantime Justin and I pulled the cam covers and front covers off the engine to check it for the tensioner issue. Justin found the problem I think. A missing oil galley plug in the head. It either fell out, has been missing, or something. It may be from a small crack next to where the plug is located? So now I'm in the process of locating another head, which I may have found and getting things switched over and once all that is completed put back in the car once the restalled converter returns.
I also received the items needed at Christmas (Thanks Santa) to change the car over to coil on plugs so that is on track to go on once its back in the car as well.
I'll also have to get the new Cam covers to Chris to get coated to go on top.

Lots of things to do but not a lot of time to get them completed unfortunately. We will be working on all this to get completed by sometime this spring!

Sounds good. What stall are you looking for?

Don't fear the stall, mine is 5000, with 4:56 gears.

Any chance you are going to be ready for the April NMRA race in Rockingham?

I has to switch over to slicks in order to run bracket races at marginally prepped tracks.

Rockingham is my old stomping grounds. That NMRA race sounds huge, might have to check it out.

Are most of those classes run on the 1/4 mile? It doesn't say, but a lot of fast classes are 1/8 mile these days.

No, not going to happen.

Between work (60 hrs week), trying to get things done with the car, stuff at house to do and awaiting parts I'd expect mid May at the earliest?

Did get the convertor back recently, ordered a new set of custom cams yesterday at least 6 wks wait on them along with
repairs will be a little while. Then finding time to get it installed.

Did you go to the NMRA Spring Break shootout in Florida? How did you do?

was there, left the fuel cell cap off, leaked e85, no go. First round loss.
It sucks getting old. We went to a race in GA drove all night 12 hours. The car runs e85. Went to staging to make our 1st test pass. I'm cruising down the track and start smelling some gasoline real bad. Thinking to my self someone running real rich, cant be me we run E85. Get back to the pits still smelling gas, pop the trunk and say damn forgot to take the 20 gallons of fuel out. 10 gallons E85 and10 gallons gas for the generator in 4 race jugs. Well when I launched the jugs flew back, obviously but one of them broke and we lost a couple gallons of gas in the trunk. Luckily no sparks happened.
