anybody on here think that 2 1/2 " true duals would be too much for a stock 4.6 (94) that is going to be modded later (either PI heads, cams and intake or explorer swap). I was thinking 2 1/4, but if i can get ahold of some 2 1/2 pipe i would like to run it now, and only have to build the exhaust once.

that is the plan. not sure when it is going to happen though. would 2 1/2 be too much and kill my low end torque until i got to that range?

No.....2 1/2" is just perfect for your car, especially with future mods. For the ever so little you might loose in off idle torque, your horsepower and torque curve will gain it 10-fold as the RPM climbs.

Are you going to run cats? Is your 94 completely stock right now? The loss of lowend will be very noticeable unless you are running a higher Stall TC.

completely stock right now. i am planning on leaving the front cats on and getting rid of the third one (some say its a cat, some say resonator )

You won't notice any loss than as the front 2 cats are the biggest restriction in the stock exhaust. When you do all your other mods, you may want to address that and either go with high flow 2.5" cats or ditch them all together.

Im planning a 2 1/4 exhaust for my bird. My PI motor is out of my bird now for a rebuild and i will be making a little over 300 HP when it goes back in.
