They had even more of a brain cramp when they took the pictures - the same "shoebox" shots over and over. But that's pretty typical nowadays.

It does look like a nice cruiser.

+1 it's so rare to see laser red not faded to laser pink, unfortunately 1/3 of it is buried under a sheetmetal screwed in cloth top, ugh. Shame is Cougars like this are almost always overwhelmingly low mile and clean.
I went to an estate sale that a guy died and left a pearl white 30 the anniversary cougar with 2k miles on it. It was so mint it was like buying a brand new car. When I saw it had a rag top and broke out in tears everyone there bidding on stuff couldn't understand what was going on with me. I was leaning on the hood crying and yelling " He ruined it" " He ruined it" " I can' t believe he did this " The family of the deseaced man had me escorted off the property.

Is there any particular reason as too why the faux top is undesirable to many oh you? Aside from making it look completely old fogie and a wannabe caddi brougham?

It looks awful, the seamless roof to quarter transition doesn't lend itself well to it, it wasn't factory designed or installed, a chunk of it covers over the side window and is not addressed from inside the car(which if properly done would require unique sail panels), they're installed with sheetmetal screws, the fabric cloth, the cloth is padded which gives the roofline a doughy appearance, I could go on. And yes it's a terrible old fogie add on for old fogies whose memories are so shot they forgot the REAL Cadillacs of the 60s and prior never had anything resembling the POS carriage roof their ugly POS 91 brougham coupe de ville has.

FWIW I like vinyl tops on many 60s and early 70s cars. Back then, car designs actually supported the look and most importantly they didn't alter the shape of the roofline or quarter window, they were simply wrapped tightly to the roof sheetmetal. The mid 70s largely bred the hideous puffy cloth coach roofs that plague Fox/Mn12 Cougars.
