I know a few around have run 20x9 and more importantly 20x10. I am wondering if anyone can chime in on their tire sizes they have used running this combo, or one close to it. Here are the specs on my wheels...

Front
20x9 +36
Rear
20x10 +45

I am thinking about doing a 245/35 and 285/30 combo, but am tempted to try and stuff a 255/35 and 295/30 in there as well. My fender lips will be completely removed, with a slight flare, as well as airbags. I am lowered with Eibachs and brand new tokico's. I will be doing something with the brake cable to clear as well. Anyone have any input, or can direct me to someone with a setup like this?

I have 18x10.5 on the back had to use a clamp on the E-brake to get it not to rub on the wheel..

Whats your offset on those in the rear? What size tire do you run? Pics?

Haha, Not doing this anymore. Found some 19's today I would kill for, 19x8 front, 19x9 rear. Good offsets, perfect design to match my Bird.

Anyone know if I can fit a 285-35-19 on a 19x9?

285 on a 9 inch wheel is going to be to wide, think the most you can go is 275..

Red97Tbird,

I've been running 285/40-17 Nittos on 9" wide wheels on my '97 for a few years now, with no issues. I have been told that Nitto tires run a little "small" for a given size, but this combination has worked out well for me.

Rear only right? If you're running those in the front I'd like to see pictures - especially of the spindle clearance.

Trunk Monkey,

Yes, the 285s are on the rear only. I'm running 255/45-17s on the front, using the same 17"x9" wheels as the rear. I do have to use a small spacer in front to clear the spindle.

On 17's it would be no problem, but I worry about it on a 19, as it would have less sidewall to flex.

Over on the Lincoln sit a guy has those size wheels and tires on his MARK 8 (255-30-20 in front ) and he had to get his sway bar moved a little and the lips rolled and flared . Don't use air bags , they are caming out with road racing rubber for the 20"s . I'm gonna black out the 20"s on my THUNDERBIRD when I get them .
