Four main rules of gun safety 1.) Always assume ALL guns are loaded at ALL times.
2.) Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target and ready to fire.
3.) Be sure of the target. 4.) Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
You broke the two big ones. Now that that is out of the way . . . it looks like an old gallery gun or target gun. You might try writing into G&A to one of their staff writers that answers those kinds of letters. Also, know of anyone who's into old guns. They can be invaluable in these situations. Also, try to find some books on old long guns, might be info in there. Are there even any markings on the internal parts (proofing marks, S/N's, etc.)?
