I have heard of people running 275's on 8" rims, and that was pushing it, is 285 doable? I want the taller overall diameter, so that it matches the height of my front 255-45-18's. I'm thinking the increased sidewall might allow it? Whatcha think?

I have yet to find a tire in 275-35-18 that the manufacture rates safe on an 8" rim.
Would love to though.

I'm sure it can be made to fit, but how it handles and wears are going to be a question mark until you try it. 8" is narrower than recommended for 275/40, people do it because their stock Mustang wheels are 8" wide, and they want to jam wider rear tires on. Sure, you'll have an extra 1/4" of sidewall height to flex, but you'll also have almost 1/2" extra of width to be fitting on.

Give it a go, and let us know how it works out for you!! :D ;)

I'd really suggest getting at least 9" wheels for that much tire.

cheers

Ask Cudaz101, he sure knows his wheels. I bet he could give some clear insight for you.

Nah, I bug him too much.:D Even if it will fit, I think I'd be too worried about issues with the tire when actual driving. Wouldnt feel safe romping on the car. We're gonna say no on this one.
