too bad your so far away I've got a rebuilt one that has a bad Torque converter other than that its new and I'd be willing to sell it for 1k being its just sitting but shipping to get it to you would be really high i'd imagine i'm in SC

I've also got a 95 trans here, but I'm in Las Vegas. So shipping would be the problem. Anyone remember what a 4r70w weighs??

weight wise should be around 250lbs or so without fluid in it

I seem to recall an old post by Darrin that said transmission was 135lbs, on pallet with TC 220lbs. A 4r70 from Vancouver is about $220 in shipping (CAD)

I have scoured car-part long and hard, nothing in my price range that looks half decent. Tons of scummy yards up here so my faith in what a scrapper says about condition is limited.

You're going to have to find a later model, up to 2002, and ave it rebuilt. A mustang or gran marquis transmission is cheap here; but they're 20 years old, and need a rebuild, as the rubber seals aren't seals anymore. Not police or town car trans.

$ makes all the difference. Those as cores are $300 here. Rebuild outside of the car is in excess of triple-quadruple what I am looking to spend. New seals, sure. If it's got 1-4 and might last me a few kms fine by me.

Tell you what. I definitely will be doing a 4r70w rebuild video and a jmod video. But i have to plan that. It won’t be quick. But for folks to do that job right the video quality needs to be great and the info detailed. But I’m looking forward to filming that. I'll get that done.

I just pulled the engine and transmission from my 1996 Thunderbird 4.6 with 120000 kms runs excellent and transmission also works fine but I'm in New Brunswick and shipping would also be costly I was asking $700 for engine and transmission complete with starter and alternator
