First post, hopefully in the right forum. Am considering modernizing my powertrain. Currently stock 312 v8 with fordomatic 2 speed. Mechanical lifters and original teapot carb. My intent is to drive daily around DC area, would like this car to be my last car. So if I were to bring this into 21st century what are my best mated options that provide fair mpg.

Thanks for considering.

Id get the drivetrain from an auto Foxbody and use its electronics as well. Itll have the correct rear sump pan, and if you want to do anything to it, its an SBF! Skys the limit.

Biggest issue youll have will be mounting the engine and trans. Those 1st gen Tbird had a single engine mount in the front, a trans mount, and torque rods keeping the back of the engine from twisting. So youll have to convert it to have side motor mounts.
Its been done, but Ive never done it. So that part I cant help with.
