hey guys, my cousin bought a 92 cougar ls with the 3,8 v6 for $400 that has about 135,xxx miles on the clock along with some serious issues, what would cause a pig rich condition, and a very wierd idle, it revs high, then almost stalls, then revs up again, and continues doing this while cold, it gets a little better after warm up, but still fluctuates, just not as extreme, still very rich, and no cel,

i tried switching the maf out with mine, but no difference, i was thinking vacuum leak but i think one that big would definately be audible, still not ruling that out as i was only able to work on it for about 30 minutes,

what do you think i should look for, maybe injector prob? cause it fires right up with no prob, runs good for three seconds and then has the idle issue, along with some nice black smoke coming out the tailpipe, lol, i told him it's a nice parts car but he wants to fix it, so i gotta try to get it running right, tia, later'z.....:D

hey thomas, i thought of the iac as well but i disconnected it while it was doing the fluctuating idle and it still did it which struck me as odd, so i'm thinking maybe something else, would the cel turn on if one of the injectors could be hung open? how would i diagnose this? i was thinking about swapping the eec with mine and see if that works.
