well after my unfortunate accident, before i get the car painted, im going to be getting a fiberglass cowl hood. i was just wondering what companies has everyone delt with and how their experience was.

first note, i do NOT like the hood that has the cowl with the 2 "nostrols or scoops" so i dont really want that one. just the plain cobra r cowl

ive been looking around and found that Age classic makes the cowl hood for the 96/7? anyone have this hood? how much body work was involved to get it to fit right or look right on the car? and about how long did it take you to get it?

does all the stock hardware just bolt on (ie hood shocks, latch) etc? i would be buying hood pins so the stock latch isnt realy an issue.

so if anyone that has bought a cowl hood just give me their expeirence with the company through wich they purchased it from, cost, amount of work to get it right etc.. any help would be appreciated.

thanks,

Patrick

Group Purchase

All 12 pages of it. I've read most of it and everyone seems happy with it. I think there were a few bugs that were being worked out with windshield clearance when open but I think it may all be worked out.

Pat,
I might have a stock hood for sale in a few weeks. I'm not sure what accident you had and who is paying for the damages but I would be parting with it fairly cheap.

gonna make this very short and sweet.....

car got hit in a parking lot, no witnesses, no video cameras, filed a police report nothing has come back yet, and besides i only have PLPD on my car (liability) so the money is coming out of my pocket.

the reason for the hood: my stock hood is fine, but my fender and bumper got messed up and i already have the parts, but my problem is that my color is a tri-cote color so it would be 350 to paint the bumper cover and fender alone, so instead im gonna get the whole car painted a dark red since the current paint is kinda rough anyways. well since im gettin the whole car painted, i talked to my dad and hes gonna buy the hood for me for x-mas combined with my birthday, so the hood needs to be painted anyways, so it just kinda falls into place, my stock hood is fine so come spring time ill also have an extra stock hood.

also if i just got the fender and bumper painted it wouldnt match the rest of the car due to almost 10 years of faiding paint.

Patrick, check with Steve4.6l. He put a glass hood on and I think it was an Age Classic. Also, with the newer technology, a good painter SHOULD be able to match your paint.
