If I end up painting it I would go with competition blue. What kind of sucks is if I knew for sure I wasn't painting this(I don't know yet) I would have painted the truck that color.

Yeah I don’t think I’d like that color on it either. As much as I love those early Cougars the factory color palettes kind of sucked, lots of formal metallics more fitting to a Lincoln Continental than a sporty ponycar. My friends was cream white(not Wimbledon off-white, I mean cream), and I know how you feel about yellowish whites lol
My dad has a 68 Montego that is a cream color, very meh

Some progress on the 69. Started on putting the 4spd back together and discovered the input bearing had spun in the case  and now the bearing is loose in the case. I had already bought a new bearing retainer because there were cracks at all 4 mounting holes (this trans had a rough life). I ended up buying a new aluminum case it was the cheapest(not inexpensive) way to get this back together in a timely fashion. Some trans porn :devilish:

It looks like I can fit 295/50/15's on the rear(it will be tight) So I ordered those and 235/60/15 for the front. Yes the other tires are like new but they're 15-18 years old at this point and at one point when the ps still had fluid and was leaking it had caused one of the front tires to swell up. The swelling is gone and I can't tell where it was but I would be leery of doing much driving on it.

Got the new tires mounted. I can't believe it but they fit! I think I might stick an 1/8" or so spacer on there and roll the lip for a hair more clearance on the backside but they fit a lot better than I thought they would. As it sits I have about 1/2" clearance on the springs.

My 97 seems to attract bad mojo.

This happened a few weeks ago when we had an ice storm out by my brothers place. If anybody remembers I had the new bed for my truck fall on it a few years ago and I had nothing but issues slowing me down when I was building it. I'm really tempted to get rid of it after I get my 69 going. Luckily this time it missed hitting it by about 2". If it had gotten damaged I think i would have been so pissed I would have parted it out. The branch that fell on it was the length of the garage (24') and the big end was 12" in diameter and was toward the rea of the car. We had to finish collapsing the garage in order to cut the branch up and remove it. My brother is having the tree removed before I put up the new (used) garage I'm getting tomorrow. I had been worried about that tree for some time so it really wasn't complete surprise when it happened, it just sucks [email protected] keeps happening to this one.
