What's the best way to remove my '96 console top, without breaking the mounting tabs(in case I ever want to put it back in)? And, is installing the '97 top just the reverse? Thanks...Hal

open the console bin.

there's 2 screws holding the console top in place.

set parking brake.

put car in neutral (puts shifter in easier position)

gentally pull up on the rear of the console top, and gently pull back a little.

and your done.

reverse for installation

fyi: you'll need a 97 ac tube, or modifiy yours to make the 97 top fit corecctly. (the tube that carries the air from the dash, via the console to the rear compartment of hte car) you'll see what i'm talking about when you get your oem top off.

Just cut the air tube apart and save yourself the trouble of tearing the whole center console apart. When i did mine i wanted to make sure i did everything the "right way", so i installed a '97 airtube as well and it was totally not worth it in my opinion. Air dosent even make it to those rear vents anyway.

Yeh, just plug it up so you get more air in the front. I never really cared if people in the back were too hot or too cold anyway. That's what they get for making me drive. Fuggers.
