So – I have a nagging P1747 code and rough shifting – happened all of a sudden. Dropped the pan and changed out the EPC Sensor and replaced all the fluid (Mercon V). While waiting for the new EPC to arrive, checked the original sensor and checked out within spec – as did the new replacement. Went ahead and installed new sensor (cheaper than the fluid) and once back together immediately got another P1747 code. What to check next and where?

Help!

Thanks

That's the code for a shorted epc.

If the epc was good, I'd unplug the connector and use an ohmmeter to see which side is shorted, the tranny or the wiring.

It will be shorted to ground, most likely, or to the +V power wire. I don't think the eec can see a short to +, but I'm not sure.

The car side of the wiring is connected to a driver on the eec; so only use a digital ohmmeter, and try not to kill the eec.

Metal from the tranny wear can get into the wiring circuit board, shorting stuff out.
