hey guys Im currently in the market for a Cobra. I have my eye on a 97 with 70000 miles and 1 owner and a 2001 with 95000 miles and 2 owners. I know that there is a little difference in horsepower because they switched up the heads but what I want to know is how reliable are they? are they notorious for any weird problems? I know this is a thunderbird forum but I know some of you are familiar with the 32v 4.6l and before I get any grief, lol they don't make mn12 thunderbirds convertible. :D

Personally I'd pick the 01. New edge looks, IRS, much better seats, TR-3650 trans, and of course the newer motor. Reliability wise they're pretty much the same as each other and as bulletproof as any other modular in DD duty.

I've summer daily driven my '96 Cobra for the last 3 years with zero issues. I've put about 25,000 miles on it during that span.

I'd also go for the 01 assuming that it doesn't have valve seat tick on cylinder 7 or cylinder 8.
