My wipers only work when I push the washer fluid button and then just for a few seconds.
All other functions of the switch work, low/high beam, turn signals, washer fluid pump.
Just no straight wiper function at any speed. Any thoughts? Thanks

Check fuse #17 under the dashboard...it may be on the way out. Other ideas: see the list below. I don't have access to the 1997 service manual, but here's a "Symptom/Possible Causes" list from the 1994 manual:

Symptom Chart

ELECTRICAL--WIPERS AND WASHERS

Condition(s):

Windshield Wipers Inoperative in ALL Control Switch Positions

NOTE: Check in sequence.

Possible Source(s):
-Turn signal and windshield wiper switch (13K359).
-Bent or damaged windshield wiper mounting arm and pivot shaft (17566).
-Windshield wiper motor (17508).
-Open wire or connector.

I blew my wiper fuse before and I think that the symptoms were the the same as yours, IIRC, it's a 5A fuse.
