I'm finally having some trans problems after 170k miles (not bad).
Here's the deal i now own and will shortly have delivered to me antoher trans from a 97 cougar just like mine. this trans have 67K miles on it. very clean, car was driving when trans was pulled.(accident damage)

What if anything should i do to the trans before installing, other than checking the torque settings on the valve body, replaceing the sump/screen/filter and new fluid.

Also what type of fluid? still confused on the use of mercon vs merconV in the 97
4w70r trans?

If no other mods to the car are planned what to do stock or mod (J-Mod??)

How about the TC ??

at most the car may receive true duals and a tuner within the next year or not still haven't decided (especailly the tuner)
