Ok, I'm not sure if this is the correct section or not but here goes. the vehicle is a 1998 Windstar 3.8. We believe it has a blown headgasket, infact I'd bet on it. Classic sputtering and white smoke out the tail pipe, just no water in the oil. It my sister van and she had it looked at, now whoever looked at it said that some kind of "shaft" or "pin" or something to that nature would be bad and that it wouldn't be worth putting new headgaskets on. I've never heard any crap like this, I'm thinking about getting it and fixing it. Its in great shape just minor wear and all it really needs interior wise is a passenger side window track. About all i know about this new of a 3.8 is that its a splitport. Someone please chime in.

Thanx, Brandon

d about any pin. maybe the "shaft" is the crank or cam and if there isnt any water in the oil then they will be fine. next is that i had a friend that had blown hg in his 98 windstar. he on the other hand also warped the heads. so get those checked to be sure.

thanks, i have no idea who "looked" at it, but if its the same guy that she had time her mystique (2.5 v6), then he don't know his ass from a hole in the ground, he messed that top end up so bad it wasn't even funny... all the valves were bent and didn't close anymore when we pulled it apart, it was a total loss and she sent it back and took the loss. I think i'm going to get it and try to salvage it, it not then i have a few ppl that have screwed me over before that i could pawn it off on.. thanx again
