I have a friend with some '98 Mark VIII parts, one of which is a fuel tank and pump. Can I swap that tank and pump in to my '90 Bird? My exhaust system is hurtin' and my fuel pump is on its way out, I'd like to get that Mark VIII tank in there so that I can have the more direct exhaust route. Plus I'd get the working Mark VIII fuel pump.

Any issues with bolting this in?

It does physically fit in there, but it won't work because the fuel pump is different, and the way it mounts in the tank is also different. Your best bet it to get a tank and exhaust out of a 92+ tbird or cougar. That would be a direct bolt-in swap.

Cool, thanks for the heads up.

Just for my own curiosity, what's different about the Mark VIII pump that I can't use it with my 5.0?

It's a two-speed pump. The voltage applied to it is varied through the variable control relay module. It's the same module that operates the 'famous 2-speed' later model mark viii radiator fans you see on ebay that aren't 2-speed units.
