my girlfriends dad car is having ac issues.

1997 acura 2.2cl

the compressor kicks on for 4 seconds and shuts off. pressure on low side is VERY high. its at 95. norm is 40

not sure whats up with it. AC compressor relay, pressure switch, not good with electrical and AC stuff.

95 is perfectly normal on an A/C system that's not running.

40 is when it's running full bore.

When it kicks on, what pressure does it drop to on the low side, what does it go to on the high side?

Bypass the low pressure switch and see if it comes on.

when the ac is on its at 95. no cold air at all.

i dont have a gauge set, only the little one that goes on the low side fitting that comes with the DIY can from auto zone.

i unplugged the pressure switch, didnt kick on. unplugged the ac compressor relay, nothing happens.

the compressor has power going to it, it just wont kick on.

any ideas or other things to check?

If you unplug the pressure switch it WON'T turn on ... that switch closes when it's within range.

You need to SHORT it.

THAT said - if power is getting to the compressor clutch power connector, then by elimination it must be the clutch.

Also, if you unplug the relay, and only unplug it, it won't run ...

I suggest getting a copy of the EVTM (Electrical Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual) for your car, and studying it carefully.
