I am having some issues with my bird and i need some help. I was just driving at about 40 mph and all of a sudden my floor and defrost vents kicked on full blast with outside temp air. nothing on my auto climate control unit display and the high/low/auto knob does nothing. the position selector ( vent, floor def, etc) will change where the air comes out, but the off position still shoots air full bast. i cannot adjust the air temp either. At the same time my battery voltage gage stopped working and the needle just sits on the peg on the 8 amp side. also, at the same time my o/d light went off and the o/d cancel switch does nothing. could some wires have crossed? is my auto climate control unit bad? could the plug have come unplugged from the back of the unit partially? crossed wires maybe? i removed the 10 amp fuse from the panel in the a/c location, but nothing changed. any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot.

P.S. i have an aftermarket head unit and a trans temp sensor/gage if it matters (i'm thinking it may be an electrical issue)

i just tried pulling the actual climate control unit out completely and it made no difference. i've got a fat factory manual i'm about to look through, but it's raining so i cant really get too into the t-bird tonight, but if anyones got a direction for me to go...
that'd be great. thanks

just something simple

i thought i had fixed the problem by swapping out the blown 5 amp "run" fuse for a good fuse, but it blew. tried a 10 amp fuse and it blew, too. right back where i started with floor/defrost vent goin full blast in the off position. any ideas what would be causing that circuit to keep blowing? also going through that fuse are the following: gage cluster, rear defrost, coolant and washer level sensors, DRL module, EVO test and steering sensor, "hard" and "soft" relays, auto mirror, SATC blend door, air bag diagnostic monitor, TCS, "brake/shift solenoid"

bringing back an old one here...

i kind of put this one on the back burner for a while, but want to fix it now. i wound up pulling the blower motor controller connector under my dash and havent had any issues. i havent used the hvac system at all since then except the defrost function which worked, but only really "soft pressured air" comes out of the vents. i assume this is because the blower motor controller is unplugged. does this sound like said motor controller is faulty? any ideas where i can go from here? thanks.
