I'm looking at buying a 96 that hit a tree. The Air Bags deployed, and the front end is not pretty. Anyway, since the Air Bags are deployed, would I have to replace the sensors in front of the radiator? Would I have to have something in the computer cleared before I put more in. Thanks for the help.

Yes, the crash sensors will have to be replaced. I'd check with a dealer or a body shop for all the details and procedures.

Your sensors should be good unless they were damaged in the collision. I don't think the computer can be reprogrammed. I'm not 100% sure, but I think that there is a nonreplaceable fuse that blows in the module. Most people just replace it. I also replace the clockspring in the steering column.

I thought the sensor consisted of a Pendulum sp? inside of a glass case. In an accident the weight would smash the glass and make electrical contact. So wouldn't you need to replace the sensor if it deployed the bags.
