As many of you know, in order to do my exhaust how I wanted I had to remove the gas tank from the car. I just purchased a 16 gallon steel fuel cell with a plastic bladder. This is going to be mounted in the trunk floor.

Since I will now have an additional 97 pounds behind the rear end, I'm probably dealing with some rear sag/squat... and we all know what that looks like.

Has anyone used these before? I saw that Summit sells replacement bags, which is nice for servicability-- but are these bags low-end, high-end or a bad idea all together?

If its an air lift 1000...don't bother. It works good to raise your rear end, but they leak big time. And they're a b!tch to put in the springs. I even tried to glue all the barbed fittings. No luck. But what can you expect from a $100+ kit?

Where were you finding the leak point? I don't have a problem replacing the air line with stainless hardline. I need to do something here though. I'm sure they supply low-end fittings with the kit for $87 but I can change out some of those components.
I don't really have any other ideas for my problem though.

If the barbed plastic is part of the airbag itself, the only option there would be to cut off the barb, drill and tap for a brass fitting with a push to connect DOT approved airline fitting, then you can use the DOT re-enforced airline, replace the schrader valve fittings with push connect, or even compression fittings are better than barbed fittings - barbed fittings are not acceptable for this type of application.

You could even add an air compressor / storage tank + valves if you wanted to make it adustable on the fly instead of having to rely on shop air ..

Worst case, replace the springs with air suspension airbags, they wont be as firm as a set of springs, but you can adjust the pressure to level the ride out.

I have had those bags installed for 12 years in my 95.

I never had any air leaks in the lines.

After about 10 years I replaced the bags as they wore a hole where the sping contacts the bag. Both sides went within months of each other, I just replaced the bags.

You need to drill a hole in the bottom of each sping perch to attach the air line. I did not have much trouble getting the bag in the spring. It was harder to get the old ones out when I replaced them.

Just did it to mine this last weekend. Granted I have a mark but still the similiar "setup" back there. I have the lowered kit they sold for mark's and the rear was sagging pretty bad, the soft/worn motorcraft isolators didn't help (Prothanes are pretty stiff, in a good way). The rears measured 26 "~. I put the prothane isolators on top/bottom and both were sitting 27"~. I expect (assume) they'll settle a little. But overall I''ll be seeing a 3/4" height increase, which is perfect for my setup. Enegy susp has them the cheapest, got 2 set's for 42.xx shipped.
