Guys I just got back from seeing it with my woman, and it is awful.

If anyone is a Predator fan and wants to see it BE WARNED, this movied is chock full of suck. The Predator's image is flat out tarnished.

Barely any action at all, and too much story.

No! Please say it isn't so. I've been waiting for this movie for a while. If it sucks as much a$$ as you say it does then I don't know if I want to see it. Could you at least tell me one thing: Does Predator lay the smack down on the Aliens? WOOHOO go Predator! :zdevil: :headbang:

No where near as much as you would expect. I was really excited about the movie too. I NEVER see movies on opening nights, but I made an exception and I found out I chose the wrong movie.

Maybe I wont see it then. Anyways, in a theoretical battle to the death who do you think would win? Alien or Predator? I personally would go with Predator. You might say I'm wrong because the Aliens have numbers, they are the ultimate life form, they can spawn from any creature (facehugger, chestburster, and eggs), acidic blood, supersonic hearing, super intelligent, they learn fast, blah blah blah. It doesn't matter though. Predators are super strong, highly advanced technologically(lasers, cloaking devices, the ships, medical devices, so on, but they still use primitive type weapons that won't fail), thermo sight, excellent trackers, the ultimate hunter, there are probably more, but what makes them stand out in my mind is that they are the most rutheless, coldhearted, bada$$ MOFO's that will stop at nothing to kill what they set out to kill. Nothing can stop them, unless it's Arnold or Danny Glover :D  Predator

I hate some of these sequals and vs. movies.

Like Jason X, cheep porno with some special effects.

Jason Vs. Freddy, C'mon, you really cant kill off a character and im glad they didnt, but guess what, I can guarentee there will be a sequal of it, They both will die, only to come back alive to face Meyers, leather face, Carrie etc, in some kind of competition where they all are defeated by some cheap hollywood created character, or they get ate by andacondas.

As I am unsure where im going with this, my final note is, Instead of paying that $6 for a movie, go to blockbuster and rent 3 of the originals.

I too wanted to see this movie, but now I'm not gonna. Thanks for the info guys, saves me $8 on the ticket alone. Hughes - I definitely would have to take predator too. He was designed for killing and as you said has all the right tools. Also, Sigourney Weaver killed Alien whereas Predator killed himself in the first movie. So the way I look at it is this: Weaver vs. Arnold. Who would you pick? Obviously Arny(Predator)

You've got to go with the Predator because he's a hunter who chooses to hunt for sport. The Alien is just like an animal who kills due to instinct. The Predator is more like us, so you have to like him.

I was expecting more fighting from the 3 predators though. There was like what.. only 2 or 3 major scenes?? And when the girl got the sheild is when I said.. Oh my God. They F'ed Predator's image up. I was wanting to go watch Predator I so I wouldn't feel so bad.

I couldn't believe it.

Weaver vs. Arnold

That's a brain buster. I think I would go with Arnold though. You could make it a 3 way fight though. Don't forget about Danny Glover. He actually killed a Predator.

I saw the movie last night and it was a let down. With all the hype about this movie you would think they would have hired some real actors instead of a Wal-Mart cleaning crew. They had a chance to make a top shelf movie but opted for low cost bar stock. Damn shame.

From what Ive seen posted on other message boards and people claiming it was a great movie, the problem seems to lie within how much the viewer knows about the AvP series. There were some books written on it and according to the people who liked the movie, it stays very close within the bounds of the books.

Okay for those that don't know wtf I'm talking about or were confused by the movie here's the background

Predators, AKA Yautja(sp!) are a hunting race. They fly around in advanced space craft that makes ours look like toy boats in a bathtub. They have a very strict society and their "coming of age" ritual to become a full blown hunter is to fight the "hard meat". Hard meat, AKA Aliens, are what they hunt and to become "blooded" they have to kill one.

In order to do this, Yautja capture a queen (an event by the most advanced hunters. Considered a high honor), by going into an already established nest, kidnapping her *** while fighting off all of her drones, and then chaining her up and making her make eggs.

They then send those eggs out to planets where planned hunts are about to happen. They also scan the eggs to make sure none of the crap doods holds a queen. They *smish* those. They get to the planet, and the group is typically led by 1 or 2 blooded and the rest noobs.

To become blooded you kill an alien. If you fail to kill one, or are killed... it sux to be you as they leave your ***.

The movie took a different angle than usually thought of but in a way that would be very acceptable.

As a side note... humans are considered *soft meat* and are considered the most dangerous prey next to a queen. They are also considered off limits until you are blooded. Punishable by death unless unavoidable.
So, I guess if you know the backgroud story and read the books of AvP the movie seems to make a lot more sense even with the certain sfi-fi cheese factor.

The main story (idea) wasn't bad at all. It just was how it got to the point in the temple and how the events transgressed (lack therof, and that ONE SCENE).

LOL I thought maybe they were going to come back later next year in a buddy comedy, maybe like Starsky and Hutch, but with a little more modern edge.

I went into it with pretty low expectations and I came away not disappointed. It was by no means a thrilling, suspense-filled extravaganza, but how could anyone who saw the previews have thought it would be?

EDIT: That's not saying I don't want to see a good version of this movie, I just liked this one for its cheese-factor.

That's the same reason I went to see The Chronicles of Riddick, after everyone told me it was a letdown. Bought Pitch Black, got the free ticket.

yeah thats true if you never read the books you wouldnt have much of a clue, I read a bit about a few years ago about the girl, and bla bla, maybe ill have a better time watching it, but either way it really saddens me to hear all those bad reviews, now I will think twice about going to watch it.
