i just installed 1.6" drop vogtlands on my bird. just wondering if i will have aligment issues. somebody told me that if i lower my car more than 1" i would be close or out of the range of adjustment. is this true? took it to the aligment shop and they couldn't even get it into the aligment machine, said "its too low". so im gonna take it to another place this week end.

You should be fine, just take it to a shop that knows what they are doing for the alignment. My MarkVIII has the 1.5" eibachs on it, and is nowhere close to being out of adjustment.

I have to post. Not being a smarty pants but after reading ths post a few times and laughing so hard I had to say something.

Alignment - What you are asking for.

Aligment - Something in your body holding it together.

Some idiot told me that if i lower my car more than 1" that they would be too lazy too make adjustments. is this true? took it to the aligment shop and they were too busy looking at porn to even get it into the aligment machine, said "I'm too lazy". so im gonna take it to a real shop this week end.

get shorter rear sway bar links.... can easily be had at autozone or most parts stores. They are the ones by energy suspension with pretty bushings. I forgot the length I got, but will look in garage. I have eibachs

3 hours to figure something out ??? He must be paid hourly.

I have had issues "getting the car onto the alignment machine" after lowering it 2 inches + ... they had to bring out some wooden ramps to drive the car onto the alignment rack. It depends on your shop and their resources / knowledge.

When you lower the rear end substantially, the alignment goes way out of spec. Yes it is possible to run out of adjustment if you are too low in the rear end, at this point you need to slot the upper control arms bolt holes because the alignment adjustment isnt on a linear ratio, its more of a curve when you go to the far end of the adjustment it goes WAY out.

With my 1.5" drop they can still get my car onto a flat bed with one front flat tire. The front bumper rubs but not bad, they just move it slow. I'm wondering what their alignment machine looks like.

i think they just didn't want to do it. those fletchers guys have a reputation overhere. if they have a lot of customers they just blow yyou off. but just got a call from the other shop that my car is done. charge me twice as much but set it up to the specs i found in a tech article for aggresive handling.:D
