FI is a private owned company. RE used to be that way but they are owned by US amps now and they are becoming mainstream.

I'd go for FI just because of price.

The new xxx goes for 599 i think. :(
every heard an FI? I was looking into the SSD12. The power handeling is enough. From what i have found the really high SPL woofers do tones better than music. I need music.
I have a friend with the SSD12 and that damn woofer sounds good! He only has about 1500w going to it, but it freaking slams. I am a sq guy, and when he has the bass eq'd out, that sub is very musical. I am sure you will be happy with the FI....it is an excellent speaker

High SPL woofers that rely on excursion USUALLY have poor SQ, there are a few exceptions...like high end RE, FI, and Adire woofers. I believe it's the X^2 motor technology used in the RE and Adire that allow it to keep it's linear movement, even with high excursion. Excursion=Distortion, but if you can control the excursion and it's movement.... you have a nice sounding woofer.
I chose a high SPL woofer that has MINIMAL excursion...the Cerwin Vega Stroker (old school style), minimal excursion=minimal distortion without paying the $600 a sub like RE and Adire.
i had an RE XXX ('03 model)....overall the best sub i've ever had/heard.....excellent compromise between SPL and SQ.....hopefully sometime this year i'll pick up a new XXX and slap on both RF bd1000.1's on it :)......for the moment, im happy with my JBL WGTi 10"......sound quality is just a tad better than the XXX i'd say....if only JBL would leverage their practically unlimited resources to belch out a real supersub!

the FI's look like an excellent value for the money
G.M. I was looking at your pics, do you always go with ported enclosures or do you have to with those subs?? What is the best way to position a sealed box subs forward or to the back?
