the previous owner of my bird had the transmission rebuilt at aamco right before i bought it.
is there any chance that i wouldnt need to buy all the parts for the jmod because parts were already updated when it was rebuilt?

I doubt aamco would upgrade the parts unless the old version was unavailible. You must not need to replce te accum. pistons, but that is all.

I imagine it'd depend on how long ago the rebuild was performed. When the transmission on my car was overhauled last year, upgraded parts were installed (i.e., the pistons/springs required for the J-mod).

Pay a visit to or call AAMCO, and ask them...if it was local, they should be able to inform you as to what overhaul kit was used.

The only way to know for sure would be to look.

AAMCO is not known for their 'upgrading' of transmission parts.
Generally slap in the cheapest kit they can get, and let it go.
Depending on the builder, they may not even be aware there IS an upgrade.

Pistons, springs, accumulators are NOT part of a kit,
and neither is the mech diode upgrade.

FWIW
