i have a 95 T-bird and i have this low tone clunking noise when i roll over bumps in the road. im stomped i cant find anything making the noise. i changed the inner and outer tie rod ends and its still clunking. i checked the lower ball joints and they were solid as well. im just lost. anyone else ever have this problem before? :confused:

Check your strut rod bushings, where the strut rod passes thru the lower control arm, near the spindle.

Jack up the front end until the tire comes off the ground. Then grab the top of the tire and try to wiggle it in and out from the car. That'll check the top ball joint to see if its died on you.

Our cars eat more upper ball joints than college students eat pizza! ;)

Clunking

The clunking noise, may be your lower control arm bushings causing this. Most MN12's are notorious for this, and Ford even carries a redesigned bushing because of this problem.

clunk

I had that same noise whenever I hit bumps a week after I bought my car. I had it checked out and my mechanic had to put on new control arm bushings and tie rods. Wasn't too expensive.
