Just curious if any forced induction guys installed a intercooler on ther thunderbird. I would like to know what kind and possibly pics of the install.

Lastly,, does anyone know Spearco's website?? I cant seem to locate it.

I'm thinking of removing the plastic cover under the bumnper and installing it there with a slight scoop to move air threw it. kinda how the GrandNational's are setup.

Thanx,
Brad

Don't the AED's come with an intercooler?

AEDs intercooler is located in under the eaton right before the manifold. And it wouldnt be a problem equiping a intercooler up front. There are all kinds of shapes and sizes. It might help thou if you ditch the AC condensor, relocate the PS cooler and horns.

AED's "intercooler" is a air to water heat exchanger not an intercooler. A true air to air intercooler would be quite a bit larger. I've seen a custom Spearco air to air intercooler made for a '96 bird... I'm pretty sure it cost around $1,500 to have it made (in the car).

Afco's '03 Cobra heat exchanger.

ForcFed93 put a custom made one in front of his radiator.

It's not custom, it's from a diesel. But it's all aluminum, and is actually a great design. It's the PERFECT size too, I couldnt believe how well it fit, all he did was weld on some new mounting tabs. He never told me what it was off of.

Gotta ask you, what kind of huffer are you putting on?

Also, keep in mind the image Scott posted is not an intercooler. It is only a heat exchanger for a water/air intercooler. It's like a small radiator for the liquid that passes through the water/air cooler that usually sits in the engine bay or in the intake manifold itself.

Thanks thomas the picture was decieving,, I'm installing a SQ-Trim Vortech and would like to add a Air to Air cooler under the harmonic balancer area (lots of room on a 3.8/4.2 car,, I would like a mild scoop attached to it to pull the air upwards to it.

Installing it in front of the radiator seems like a lil to much hassle and piping.

Only prob I see thus far is changing the oil filter.

Gonna get some measurement and see what exectly I can fit up in there and maybe find something pre-made.

V2-SQ? Nice. You dont really have the need for an air/water with that blower, at least, not at the boost levels you'll probably be seeing with it.

eBay makes some nice ones for cheap, you might just take some measurements and see what you can find on there.
