Can't help much with Pensacola but let me know if you want anything a little farther east... I do know they're still fixing damage from Ivan in places over there. And you want to stay off the Escambia Bay bridge (I-10) going east in the afternoon.

Something to consider also, is that weekend is a huge gay/lesbian pride thing on the beach. Every year they book up the hotels and hit the beaches. Just food for thought, I'd head south like silver LX said.

Thanks for the heads up... I am going to see a friend down in P-cola tomorrow night, and I thought about spending Memorial Day weekend there as well, but I think I am gonna bring her up here and show her how we big, burly men do things redneck-style:thumbsup:

I left there last June, and the beach still didn't have sewer and power to all of it. That was 10+ months after Ivan, at this point I'm not sure what is repaired or not. Check www. pensacolanewsjournal.com. That may have Memorial Day weekend info for you, the beach is flat, not all the buildings are fixed and there will never be enough parking for all the people. Plus the afore mentioned "celebration" and any club not on the beach will be full of drunk Squids who usually go to the beach on every other weekend but this one. Best I can do for you, it is a nice place and usually the beaches are cool. That's just not the best weekend is all.

Enjoy the beach, hopefully things won't be too crowded for you. Hope you're staying at a place where you don't have to look at a construction site the whole time. If you haven't been down lately things may look different....
