I'm reasonably sure so, but am I correct that all PI single cam long blocks (meaning excluding, wiring, intake and exhaust and such, are
interchangeable? 10 Town car into an 04 Crown Vic, vice versa, etc?
I believe there are some differences in the earlier ones but I'm shopping for PI motors.

There were two basic PI engines. Those made in the Windsor plant and those made in the Romeo plant. Most passenger cars (excluding the pre-2001 Mustang GT’s) got the Romeo engine. The ‘99-00 Mustang GT as well as the Ford Trucks got the Windsor block.

You’ll want a Romeo engine if a swap is your intention. Look around for a later model Crown Victoria. There were plenty of them made and they aren’t likely to be overprice, or had the crap driven out of them like the 2001-2004 Mustang engines.
