Are Dual Alternators Possible?

On a 97 4.6, do you guys think it's possible to add a second alternator to these cars? I see several Mark 8 alts mounted backwards on the lower drivers side. Are these done with a special bracket and if so, would it work on a non-supercharged car?

Is there any info here on relocating the coil packs?
I'd love to move them to the rear.

I've seen some interesting things done on cars with no room for a second alt, like mounting it under the car and running it off of the drive shaft. I forget how it was connected though, but it was neat.
Why would you want 2 alternators?

Power for a "BOOM" box I bet
Yeah, no one makes a big enough alternator for my needs so the answer is to run two smaller ones.
Why don't you get a 200amp alt and put in an extra battery?

X2 that sounds much easier to me

It's not enough. I need 350-400 amps to power my 4 batteries.
Alternators do not power batteries they charge them, what kind of power r u running to think you could possibly need that much???

IMO u would need to be running at least 10,000 watts to need 350 amp alternator
Some people are fine with a drop of several volts in their sound system, but I want to maintain 14v and higher under heavy usage. And yes, it is a big system.

Will an alternator work properly if it's rotation is backwards? If not, what needs to be changed internally to make it work?

Besides, it's not like I'm asking why anyone would possibly need to supercharge a 4.6 when they make plenty of power in stock form. Some people are just not satisfied with a little. We need "excess" and "ample". Lol
I've hear that iraggi makes 350-450 amp alternators might want to check that out!!

I'm pretty sure that level of output would require a larger case. The biggest they show for a 4.6 tbird is 260 amp.

Besides, I'd rather have a pair of 200 amp alts than a single 400 amp because they will put out more power at lower rpms compared to the single big one.

Doesn't anyone have any pictures or info on how they relocated their alternator?
I've seen some HEAVY systems just using a 200 amp alt, 2 red top batteries, and 2 caps and thats more than enough to power heavy hitting bass.
Iraggi is crap, his alternators are all stock, they are just desoldered and wired differently.

you can get 300A in a regular size case from DC Power, those guys are legit.

I would be thinking how to get a larger case alternator in place on the stock one.
You won't see any pics of an MN12 with dual alternators, well, cause, there really isn't one....at least none that I have seen on this site.

Get the dimensions of the oem alternator, and get the deminsions of a larger case, and start comparing.

I was asking for pics of relocated alternators. Pretty much all the roots type supercharger guys had to relocate their alternator because the supercharger snout come out right there.
are you seeing the relocated alt. on stains or thundercocks? cause there a lil different as far as clearance alt size and location atleast as far as the sn-94 and the mn-12.
The 2V roots blowers (AED/Tork Tech/Saleen/SVO/Roush/ect...) have the alternator mounted in the same place as stock, only they may be flipped around on the stock block mounts(AED, TorkTech) or set at an angle with a custom bracket to clear the blower snout.
you could probably only do it with a custom bracket(at great cost no doubt) and having the second alt mounted at the bottom of the engine somewhere, maybe even in place of AC or something.
