Hey, I'm planning on making 'er fly a little lower pretty soon and I've been searching and searching and there's still some questions that I have. I've developed an annoying rattle/clunking noise recently and I believe it's my front sway bar end links. Since I'm going to be lowering the car, should I buy shorter ones? Also, where do I get them? Someone said I could get them right off the shelf at a local parts store, like AutoZone, but the guy behind the counter said they wouldn't work and showed me a little 3-4" bar with (what looked a lot like) ball joints on either end... He said those were the aftermarket replacement end links... They looked nothing like what I needed. How much shorter do I need?

Also, I'm not sure if I want to purchase SpringTech springs or buy a set of SC springs and trim them. Any input on what I should do would be awesome.

And finally, what all am I going to need to upgrade/replace when I install the new springs? I've heard conflicting opinions about the rear sway bar endlinks, etc...

Maybe I could get in touch with someone that knows alot about the MN12 suspensions so I could just rattle my questions off and get a few answers if somebody doesn't mind. :)

Thanks in advance!

Well i can answer one of your questions about upgrading the rear sway bar endlinks. If you have the stock sway bar back there you do not need to. You will get that answer from alot of people so i thought i would chime in first :) If you have an aftermarket one yes you will need new endlinks. As for the front same thing you can use the stock links. I have eibachs on my coug lowered 1.5 all around and they went in perfect. While your in there check upper and lower control arm ball joints any anything else that looks worn. Oh depending on how bad they are i would replace the strut rod bushings that go through the LCA. They dont need to be pressed in and they come in pairs of 2 for the front and rear of the LCA. Hope this helps you some

I would personally go for Eibachs, and I would definently not get some SC springs and cut them. The SC springs tend to raise our LX's even more. Have you considered shocks also??

There's nothing wrong with cutting SC springs a little. They maintain a good ride unless you go over 3" lowered. Here's an example of how high a Cougar sits with uncut SC springs/Sport shocks.
