I have a 97 LX with the AMFM Cassette. I would like to upgrade to a Cd player but I am on a budget. I have about 350.00. Should I try to get an FM modulated CD changer or just change out the head unit. I like the factory look but I can give it up if I have to. I also am going to have to change out the speakers at some point but that will have to wait!

Definately get an aftermarket CD player with that much $$ for a head unit. You could get the Pioneer DEH-7400 for around 275 or so. It's a sweet head unit with the oel display and it plays mp3's too. There's a lot of places that have them for that price. Here's one: http://www.carstereopro.com/Pioneer/cdplayers.htm Check around, you might be able to find one for even cheaper. Whatever you decide, 300 bucks is plenty for a nice aftermarket stereo.

With 350.00 you can get a huge improvement...

Get a Sony XPLOD Cd player for $200.00

Get two sets of Pioneer 6x8 Speakers at Wal-Mart for 59.00 a piece.

Boom, instant sound gratification...that's what I've got...sounds great.
