Well since I found that one of my Cats are blown on my 93 LX I am planning on getting a whole new exhaust installed. First the set up I have decided on was all high flow cats, although I still wonder if 3 cats are really all that necessary but in with California emissions standards who knows, delete the resonator and install some magnaflows. I understand that this set up will open up the flow of the exhaust pretty significantly. My concern is that I have been hearing alot about backpressure creating problems for cars. Does the 5.0 in my LX like the backpressure or does it perform better with a well opened exhaust?

the 5.0 motor runs alot better with opened exhaust, the main reason is because there exhaust ports on the heads are so small, very restrictive i now with i had my 5.0 i ported out the exhaust ports. but if you plan on just doing exhaust for now. i would go with a dynomax, or magnaflow cats and a good flowing mufflers so you dont get caught by the emissions police in cal.
