Looking for something to replace the stock POS hold down on my 93 SC with one that has a bar across the top and will work with both the stock size battery or an Optima. Any pictures or links would be helpful.

CarQuest, i would assume they are at other places too.

They clip onto the Optima on the bottom to give it the same dimension and the proper hold down shape as the stock battery.

I bought the Optima Hold downs, they allow you to use the stock mounting dealy.

My Yellow Top came with those. They were attached to the plastic tray which was on top of it covering the terminals. I got mine from Autozone.

I've got an aluminum billet block that uses the bolt from the factory hold down for securing an optima in my 91 with a stock battery tray. It works good and it looks good, so long as you don't mess with the battery very often.

On my 93, I'm trying to get away from that flimsy steel clip on the bottom side of factory battery tray, that the hold down bolt screws into. It's just too fragile and I've broken it on the 93 and the 91 just trying the bolt the battery down.

Since I have to remove the tray to fix the clip, I might as well bolt something down that is a little more sturdy (like the hold down kit Thomas Aden was selling last year). If Thomas doesn't have anymore kits I'll see what Autozone has or make my own.
