Seems like forever since I stopped by, what's new fellas? Time to finally change out the busted T45 so I went to dig up my old threads to refresh my memory of how I did all that, can't believe it's been 6 years since I did that swap!! Doesn't seem that long that's for sure. Anyway, just saying hi, hope all is well. Jim

Yup. Either they're on the TCCoA Facebook group on they're dropped off the radar and moved on with their lives. I've even stopped checking the site daily.

Good luck with the change out. We've tentatively got a meet in Tennessee in the works for next August for the solar eclipse. Check the upcoming events section for details.

I used your thread thoroughly when I did my (non-remote shifter) TR3650 swap a few years ago. It even inspired me to use a factory SC 5-speed console top, which I hadn't seen used on any LX manual conversion up to that point.

You still building that side oiler Shelby clone?

I have been lurking on and off for the last two years since I bought my Cougar. I've had thoughts of selling it but just couldn't bring myself to it. I'm also on the MN12/FN10 Trading Post on Facebook. Great group of people there and I've recognized some avatar pics on some profiles so I know some folks from this page are there too.

Yeah I noticed the slowdown a couple of years ago, these cars are getting long in the tooth. And sadly, mine is one of them, not much change in it in the last 3 years other than the tires are 3 years older. The things I've done to myself though, lets make it a 5speed, great idea!! Oh wait lets put in some longtubes, even better idea!! Wait, didn't make sure the tran was good before the longtubes, so now the whole thing gets to get torn down to swap the trans, oh joy. Not a chance in hell that trans is coming out around them headers sadly, so looks like the k-member is coming down. But silver linings and all, I'll force myself to fix the miss under load issue while its apart. Now to remember how I did all that crap....too many beers ago man!!!

Still working on the mustang yes, rear suspension is mostly done, moving to the front soon. But forcing myself to finish the bird and fix all it's little annoying things since it got built so it can head to a more deserving home. Yeah I said it, fixing the car then gonna turn her loose. It needs a better life than sitting in my garage looking sad.

Yeah, the cars are getting old. Don't see many at all on the roads now. As for your miss under load issue, it's probably an ignition coil, almost always is.

Well, here's my sales pitch - why let it sit? These aren't desirable enough to coop up in the garage for preservation, and they drive basically as good as anything made today(especially with your mods), are reliable, safe and relatively efficient(as far as V8s are concerned), so why not daily drive it when you get it fixed up? I'm not saying let it go(I never understood the mindset some enthusiasts have that DD must equal unloved beater), but being in GA inclement weather can't possibly be a concern as far as RWD traction or corrosion goes. Plus bearing in mind the clear shrinking enthusiast base for these cars, you're probably not going to find a better life for it than it has, more than likely it'll end up going in a scrap yard or parted out within a few years after it leaves your garage, so even if you were to get into an accident with it, at least it will be at your hand when it happens. Just hock whatever DD appliance you now have and put the funds from it into the Stang, and bring parts for it in the trunk of the Tbird :)

You forgot the other potential outcome: Wrapped around a tree. I know Jim well enough that if he saw that happen after all the liver killing and knuckle busting he did it would rub him the wrong way lol. I agree, keep it and use it. I drive my Mark Viii everyday, I am careful with it, and keep on maintenance, only reason the cougar sits is it isn't finished yet and the local roads would blow the shocks in 15 minutes.

You guys will get no arguments from me on any of that. But as I pretty much have no need for a daily driver, my owning this car at this point doesn't make sense anymore. You are correct, what all I have done to this car, it absolutely is safe and capable enough to be a daily driver. But I drive my pickup truck for everything including work, and when I'm at work if I need something more than the pickup, I have company trucks. So the car is a weekend play car, and honestly, I'm over it. I've had the car 16+ years, I've done everything I wanted to it, I've driven it everywhere, there's just nothing left. And perhaps I am better parting it out. Or giving it to my nephew when he turns 16 in a couple of years, who knows. Those are choices I'll need to make and soon. But at the very least, I'd like to see it 99%, nothing really ever gets 100% so I want to get it as close as it can be. The miss is coils I'm sure, the ones on it are used crap I dug out of a junkyard I can't even remember how long ago so I'm sure they need replacing. I bought the trans as a rebuild, was never rebuilt so the gears have always felt like crap. So I'll fix the miss, give it a good trans, drive it some, then decide what it's ultimate fate will be. To me, to nice and to good to be parted but you guys are right, finding a better home will be tough, so maybe it will get parted. At any rate that part is up in the air, I'll get it right and see what happens.

I walked away in 2013, bought a brand new V6 Mustang, it sucked, traded it nine months later for a 2013 Supercrew F150 XLT with a Coyote....should've kept that one...I sold that truck to a DUI lawyer, and bought a 2014 GT with an auto, traded it for a 2015 GT with a manual, Recaros, premium trim, yadda....Last May I traded it for a 2018 Escape, which I really, really, really like. I'd like another bird, should've just kept my last one, but it was getting pretty high in the miles, and really needed some extensive work. Ahh well...I'd love to find another, but they're getting really hard to find these days.

I think another reason why some of us don´t post as much , is because there is so much good information here that most of our questions have been asked and answered already , I do check at least every other week what is happening with my other MN12 fans still around

seems like forums are dying in general with all the facebook groups popping up. Which is unfortunate, as I tend to find forums more enjoyable, albeit, less of an instant response like facebook.
